“Mundus vult decipi: the world wants to be deceived. The truth is too complex and frightening; the taste for truth is an acquired taste that few acquire. Not all deceptions are palatable. Untruths are too easy to come by, too quickly exploded, too cheap and ephemeral to give lasting comfort. Mundus vult decipi;”

this mix has double-meaning in a sense. as many of you know, i haven’t been able to really ship naomi/emily since S4 (4x04, to be exact). for a while, i hung on to hope that despite everything, i would love them again… but this is my final mix. i’m saying goodbye to naomily. i can’t pretend i actually like this ship any longer. nothing has been able to fix them; not fic, not tumblr, not time. (it heals all wounds? not if they fester and get infected. i find my attitude towards naomily just gets worse with time, tbh, to the point where i literally can’t stand the idea of them (post-S3) any longer. S4 canon ruined them for me. irreparably.) so, whilst this is a break up mix about a teenage love that ultimately dissolves slowly and regretfully from mistrust, pain, fear, bitterness, cowardice and all those uncontrollable life forces that we are more susceptible to than we think — it’s also me saying farewell to them, one final time.
(the quote is from “i and thou” by martin buber, something that mostly sums up my view. you can find the naomi/emily in it if you know how and where to look.)
